The Boylston Police Department has a fleet of 2 fully marked cruisers, a "slick top" cruiser, a fully equipped unmarked Supervisor's cruiser, a fully marked 4x4, and the Chief's fully equipped unmarked cruiser.
All cruisers are equipped with the following equipment:
Dash mounted radar unit. Each cruiser has front and rear radar capability and may be operated while moving or stationary.
Laptops have been recently updated in the fleet. This terminal is connected through cellular technology to the communication center. It allows officers to in the field to access the motor vehicle registry database, as well as state and national criminal files. The installed laptop also provides the officer the capability of "talking" with other users who are logged on to the network.
Cruisers are equipped with a defibrillator, oxygen setup, first aid kit, road spike system, flares, jumper cables, prisoner shackles with belt, fire extinguisher, shovel, rope, plastic ties, trash bags, measuring wheel, and other investigative equipment. Officers also have access to a .12 gauge shotgun and an M-4 patrol rifle.
