Dog Licenses

Obtaining a dog license is easy.  You may submit your application, along with payment and a copy of a current rabies certificate, either by email (dporter@boylston-ma.gov), by mail (Town Clerk, 221 Main Street, Boylston, MA 01505), or by dropping it off in the Town Hall Drop Box located outside the building.  Dog License Applications are included in the Annual Town Census and are available at the Town Clerk's Office.   There is also a fillable application form located on this webpage.

To  apply for your dog license, please include:

1.  Payment:  Online, Cash, or Check payable to "Town of Boylston".  (*No fee for residents over 70; check appropriate box on Dog License Application)

    a. $15 for dogs that are spayed/neutered or $20 for animals that are intact.

    b.  The fee for a Kennel License (4 or more dogs) is $50 for the first 4 animals and $15 for every dog thereafter. 

2.  A current Rabies Certificate.  Rabies Certificates can be e-mailed to: dporter@boylston-ma.gov, as well as being dropped off or sent by regular mail.

3.  Spay/Neuter Certificate (if not already on file).  Certificates can be e-mailed to: dporter@boylston-ma.gov, as well as being dropped off or sent by regular mail.

Dogs must be registered by April 1st of each year. Dogs licensed after that date will be assessed a late fee of $10, in addition to the license fee indicated above.

If you no longer have a dog that was previously licensed, please let us know so we can update our records.

MGL Chapter 140, Section 137A states, "the owner or keeper of a dog over the age of six months shall obtain a license for the dog". 

The Town of Boylston has adopted MGL Chapter 140, Section 139, Paragraph C, "No fee shall be charged for a license of a dog owned by a person aged 70 or over".
