Boylston Police Camera Registry Program (BPCRP)

Boylston Police Camera Registry Program (BPCRP)

To continue our public safety partnership with citizens and businesses, the Boylston Police Department is excited to launch a new initiative called the Boylston Police Camera Registry Program (BPCRP). This new program will help our residents and business owners aid Boylston Police in solving crimes and various neighborhood problems.  The BPCRP allows residents and business owners to voluntarily register their video surveillance systems with the Boylston Police Department.  When a crime occurs, police will be able to identify the locations of nearby cameras via the registry and enlist the assistance of the community to help officers collect potential video surveillance and follow up on leads.

With this program, the Boylston Police Department will be able to directly contact BPCRP members that are using video surveillance in an area in which a crime occurred.  Police would ask BPCRP members to check their video footage for a specific date and time that may show activity involved with a crime, such as a getaway car or the direction that a person of interest traveled. These video clips can be crucial to solving many neighborhood crimes such as smash and grabs, house breaks, robberies, and vandalism to name a few. The Boylston Police currently conduct neighborhood canvasses and interview neighbors now as a routine practice to obtain evidence however knowing who has exterior security cameras may increase our solvability of these crimes.
